CRAFTY LADIES
Over 10 year ago a wonderful group of about 15 senior homemakers gathered at Trinity Reformed Church in Old Tappan to enjoy each others’ company and do something worthwhile. The Interreligious Fellowship became the beneficiary of their good works!
Since then, each February they gather at the church, dig into their individual and the church’s craft closet and start creating hundreds of magical items to be sold at their November Craft Sale. They meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month for an entire morning, and snip, sew, knit, glue, paint and decorate these treasures. As the time for the sale gets closer, they intensify their efforts to create enough items to meet the demand for their annual customers-so that on the first Saturday of November they are ready for the influx. Nothing is too expensive, but everything is priceless! In 2009 after the sale, they sent us a check for $2000.00 and apologized because it wasn’t more! In a floundering economy, we were ecstatic. Over the years, they have contributed more than $20,000.00- that is not small potatoes! We look forward to the 2010 event put on by these wonderful friends of the homeless of Bergen County.
