Tennis Benefit in Honor of Thomas R. Payne February 18 in Maywood
The renewal of this annual event will be held February 18 at the The Maywood Tennis Club, 263 Wset Passaic Street, Maywood, NJ. Please use the attached Tennis Benefit Registration form.
The event honors the memory of Thomas R. Payne who was a driving force since its inception. Anyone who knew Tom was aware of his love for tennis, his generosity of spirit and hands-on-work to do whatever was needed to raise funds through tennis for Family Promise of Bergen County.
As a result, a group of tennis-loving volunteers has banded together to create an evening of fun and fundraising to benefit the programs and services of Family Promise of Bergen County (formerly the Interreligious Fellowship for the Homeless of Bergen County). Family Promise is a community member of the USTA and this event is USTA sanctioned. Tennis players from beginner to advanced will play in a Round Robin format. In addition, there is an auction and buffet dinner.
As a contributor of this event you will not only directly help the homeless through the programs of Family Promise of Bergen county but will also provide the much needed funds to support over 4,500 volunteers who contribute their time to make these programs work, as well as a USTA Parks Program for children ages 5 through 15.
Tom’s legacy is courage, living one day at a time, not giving up and doing the right thing. We ask you to honor Tom’s memory by sharing his attitude of hope and courage with others through your support of Family Promise of Bergen County.
The many varied programs of Family Promise not only help to meet the most basic human needs of those who seek the agency’s help, but also help homeless working poor families achieve their dreams of returning to independent living and self sufficiency.
