Temple Israel of Ridgewood has been a supporter and friend to Family Promise for decades, actively participating on a regular basis with the Walk-in Dinner Program.
This past Christmas, the Temple provided the Christmas meal as they did in 2022. Under the leadership of dedicated volunteer Sue Hill, the synagogue did all the cooking and donated a complete holiday dinner, including turkey, sweet potatoes, mac & cheese, veggies, stuffing and more! There were 267 meals served that day.
There are many people to thank, beginning with Sue Hill who took this on graciously and enthusiastically. On site from the temple were also Les Birenbaum, Nadine Genet and Leigh Brown, Bob and Amanda Rohrberger, and Sylvia Flesher and Tom Marcyes. We appreciate all of the temple members who cooked or donated, with special thanks to Rabbi Fine for his support.
We are grateful that many of our regular WIDP volunteers came out on Christmas to help serve, pack, and distribute the delicious turkey dinner. Thank you Millie Valentino, Stephen Grassi, Debbie Zeiler, Esther Marks, Karyle Goldstein, Lisa Lanzalotto, Helen Koons, and Melody Garcia.
This year’s Team Leader was Brett Norton, who kept the day running smoothly. We thank Brett for his generous service on both Christmas Day and Christmas Eve this year.
Everyone worked hard and there were many compliments on the dinner. A true team effort to deliver a very special meal to the guests on Christmas Day!
