Family Promise of Bergen County’s Executive Director Kate Duggan has been named a 2024 recipient of U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer’s Fifth District Hometown Heroes Awards.

The annual Hometown Heroes Awards recognizes extraordinary individuals from across northern New Jersey for their commitment to bettering the lives of those who work and live in the Fifth District. Kate, alongside more than 20 other nominees, was honored by the congressman in a formal ceremony at the Barrymore Film Center in Fort Lee on July 15.

When presenting her with the award, Rep. Gottheimer spoke of the positive impact Family Promise has had on the community under Kate’s leadership, highlighting the organization’s ability to pivot to meet the changing needs of families and individuals in the aftermath of COVID-19.

“Family Promise is an incredible place,” Gottheimer said as Kate accepted the award. “For all that you’ve done to help out others, look out for people, and lift them up in trying times and beyond, you are truly a Hometown Hero.”

Kate isn’t Family Promise’s only Fifth District Hometown Hero—Board President Paul Shackford also won in 2019.

Congratulations Kate, and to all of the other 2024 Hometown Heroes!
