Dear Friends,

As I was writing this letter, I received word that SNAP benefits for NJ residents were being restored for the month of November. And although I am pleased that 25,000 households* in Bergen County will see the funding appear, the sudden delay in the delivery of SNAP benefits created a lot of chaos among recipients and service providers across the state. It’s no wonder families were confused and scared.

Such uncertainty! It’s enough to paralyze you.

But it did not.

Within minutes of sending out the Emergency Food Response appeal to help families who had lost their SNAP benefits and to provide more meals at the Walk-In Dinner, you responded.

You’ve spoiled me. I know that whenever there is a need, you will be there. You will make it possible for Family Promise to act in unique ways and to do so immediately.

This holiday season (and always), I am grateful for you. I am grateful for the compassion you show towards families who are struggling and to those who are hungry. I see that you are willing to walk alongside our neighbors, not judging – and truly making a difference in their lives. I understand your desire to see families not just make it, but to THRIVE!

Uncertainty is all around us yet not from you.

Thank you for always, and without hesitation, being there for Family Promise and for our neighbors who need us. You give me hope in this crazy, unpredictable world.

Happy Thanksgiving!

With extreme gratitude,

Kate

*In our initial email about the delay in the delivery of SNAP benefits, we reported that 25,000 individuals were effected. It was actually 25,000 households in Bergen County!
