For decades, the Family Promise Youth Council has been actively working to support families in our community through service, teamwork, and compassion. Members from all over the county meet once a month during the school year to plan how we can support Family Promise and the families in its network.
At our December meeting we created holiday gift bags for families in need. Each basket was thoughtfully prepared and included blankets, candles, toys and fun activities sorted by age, all in hopes of putting smiles on the faces of the recipients. Through different projects like these, we learn the importance of giving back and making a positive impact – one family at a time. With over 30% of Bergen County residents finding it difficult to provide basic necessities for their families, we hope our work brings a little bit of ease to their daily struggles.
Many of our members find one of our most meaningful activities to be participation in the Walk-in Dinner program. Our most recent dinner took place around Thanksgiving, making it particularly special. Members had the opportunity to contribute by cooking or serving meals to the community. These experiences have made the past few months at the Family Promise Youth Council incredibly fulfilling and rewarding.
