The other day, I saw a poster with a picture of a turtle on it that read, “Your speed doesn’t matter, forward is forward.” Sometimes I think we all wish that families could move through our programs more quickly. After all, there’s a lot of need out there. But helping families move from homelessness to self-sufficiency is not a quick process. That’s why Family Promise is in it for the long haul, standing with our families helping them overcome the specific challenges keeping them from true independence. In this edition, you will read a note from a mother and daughter grateful for the time she spent in the Family Promise Network program.
Who has the best supporters ever? Seeing all of you brave the rain and cold in support of homeless families by participating in Hike or Bike, I say WE DO! Please see the article to learn more about what ended up being an exhilarating day!
And speaking of supporters, West Side Presbyterian Church’s Pastor Marc Oehler posed a challenge to his congregation suggesting they embark on a fundraising campaign to raise $100,000 in forty days!! See if they made their goal and what they did with the money they raised.
Whether it’s a successful family, dedicated volunteers and supporters or a generous congregation, Family Promise is moving forward. Thanks to everyone in our community who has joined with us in our mission to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty for families forever.
Happy Spring!
