Family Promise
Letter from the President of the Board
September 2015

Before we know it, fall will be here. And with the fall comes Family Promise’s most important event . . . our Annual Gala which will be held on October 22nd. This is an opportunity for you to meet and hear from one of the mothers in our program who is in a much better place because of Family Promise . . . she has moved from being a homeless working mother to a working mother. When you hear her story and that of others, you will leave the evening being changed yourself. Mark the date—October 22nd.

We ended the summer of 2015 on a high note. At Camp Lots-of-Fun we had a group of children who spent two weeks enjoying themselves as they got ready to go back to school. Read all about it in this issue of The Promise.

This summer also found us saying “Good-Bye” to our Board member, Bill Congdon. Bill has been involved at our Network program at St. Andrew’s in Harrington Park for several years. But, more importantly, Bill rejuvenated our Marketing Committee. In two short years, Bill led the efforts to completely change our website–it is more inviting and informative than in the past. He also moved us deeper into social media, so important as we reach out to supporters of all ages. We will miss Bill.

But we are thrilled to welcome Jane He as our new Director of Fund Development. Jane comes with years of experience and the enthusiasm needed to help us grow. Family Promise is at a critical point as we move into new areas that will help working families who have become homeless, including providing education and job training to enable parents to get new and better jobs.

Exciting things are happening at Family Promise and you have a played a big part in making them happen. Come celebrate with us on October 22nd.
Hope to see you there,

Paul R. Shackford
President of the Board of Trustees
