The Family Promise Hike for Hope: Home Edition culminated on Sunday, May 1, and we are in awe of the overwhelming support of our incredible Hikers, friends, and sponsors! While the event was virtual once again, that did not stop 151 participants and 17 teams from lacing up their sneakers and embarking on a three-mile “hike from home” in support of the homeless, working families that we serve. Thanks to their hard work and dedication, we raised more than $37,700 for Family Promise’s shelter and support programs!
The virtual format gave Hikers the flexibility to choose when and where they completed their trek, as long as it was by the end of the day on May 1. Through our Hike for Hope: Home Edition website, registrants were able to track the progress of their personal fundraising campaign, participate in online activities, connect with potential donors via social media and text, and share with the world why supporting Family Promise was important to them.
The festivities officially began on Saturday, April 30 with the first-ever Hike for Hope Party in the Parking Lot. All Hikers were invited to our office in Ridgewood to celebrate funds raised and families helped. Guests enjoyed freshly popped movie theater-style popcorn, cotton candy, and a variety of deserts baked by members of the Family Promise Youth Council. Longtime Hike for Hope DJ Scott Reddin supplied the soundtrack for the afternoon as well as hosted dance competitions, jump rope contests, and more! Other activities included an arts and crafts table, Cornhole, a giant Connect Four board, and other games, so there was never a dull moment. Swag bags and 2022 Hike for Hope t-shirts were also distributed.
We are so grateful for the support of all who registered, donated, fundraised, attended the Party in the Parking Lot, and shared the Hike for Hope with family and friends—this would not have been possible without you! We also want to thank our generous sponsors of our event—Bogota Savings Bank Charitable Foundation, Freedom Bank, and Sharp Electronics.
We are already excited for next year—and look forward to an in-person Hike for Hope in Spring 2023!
