Congratulations to Family Promise Case Manager Luz Galeano, who recently graduated from Bergen LEADS, a year-long learning and leadership program. Bergen LEADS brings together emerging leaders from diverse backgrounds and teaches them about the complex community of Bergen County while expanding their capacity for leadership. The goal of the program is for graduates to apply their newfound knowledge and enhanced leadership skills to their employment and community involvement, helping to make Bergen County a better place. Luz was accepted into the Class of 2018 after a competitive application process. As a culmination of the program, each class works collaboratively on a project that addresses a real issue in the county.

This year’s class project was “Aging in Place.” Luz and her classmates presented their findings at a public forum held at Bergen Community College in June. Congratulations, Luz! Luz now joins Family Promise Board of Trustees member Ellen Rafferty and Director of Development Jane He, both who are Bergen LEADS alumni.
