Happy Spring Everyone!

Flowers and trees are blossoming and everywhere one looks there are signs of new growth.  At Family Promise we are no different.

We have expanded our small but mighty staff with the addition of our new Family Case Manager Denise Martino, Accountant Fran Robertson, and Director of Development Marie Caliendo.

We just passed the two-year anniversary of our model of packing and distributing meals to-go at the Walk-in Dinner.

One hundred and fifty-one walkers participated in Hike for Hope in support of working families and children who are homeless.

The working families in our programs are growing as well.

We often talk about empowerment which the dictionary defines as the process of becoming stronger and more confident, taking control of and making decisions regarding one’s own life.  True empowerment comes when families move from intention to action that will bring them closer to achieving their goals.

This is exactly the focus of Family Promise.  To empower working families experiencing homelessness to become self-sufficient.

Sounds like a tall order but the good news is that Family Promise families don’t have to go it alone.

Our Family Case Managers Luz, and now Denise, truly listen and offer their input.  They provide support and guidance to the families.  We have a cadre of volunteers ready to jump in with whatever expertise they need to draw from.  And our faithful donors provide the funding to make sure families have all of the tools they need to succeed.

Empowerment.  The ultimate goal.  The highest and most transformative form of growth.

Happy Spring, Everyone!
