Be the reason a child facing homelessness has a summer they’ll never forget

Camp Lots-of-Fun is Family Promise’s annual day camp for kids ages 5-12 whose families are involved in our housing and support programs, as well as for children experiencing housing instability referred to us by other organizations across Bergen County. Many of these children have faced unimaginable challenges, but for two joyous weeks, they get to leave those worries behind and simply be kids—because every child deserves the chance to have a wonder-filled summer, regardless of their circumstances.

Camp Lots-of-Fun provides more than just amusement—it offers healing, hope, and a true sense of belonging. Every day is a new adventure, and our campers arrive each morning eager to discover what the day has in store. They enjoy new and unique experiences they might not otherwise have, such as visits to a therapy horse barn, field trips to nearby lakes and waterparks, interactive magic shows, scavenger hunts, performances by a local dance troupe, and more. Campers thrive in the safe, nurturing environment the program provides, reuniting with old friends and building new relationships with peers who understand and relate to their lived experiences.

Campers also benefit from the support of our enthusiastic, compassionate teen counselors, who provide the one-on-one attention children need to thrive. We understand that many high school students need to earn an income during the summer months, so we provide stipends to counselors rather than just offering volunteer credit. This initiative helps ensure diversity among our staff, allowing young campers to engage with role models who reflect the diversity of their own families and communities.
