Summer has come to an end, which means that another year of Camp Lots-of-Fun is in the books! We’re happy to report that our annual two-week summer day camp for the children in the Family Promise programs was yet again a success. From August 16-27, our campers played and learned, all while making new friends and reuniting with old ones in a safe, supportive environment.

Building upon what we learned from holding Camp Lots-of-Fun last summer, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were able to safely welcome more children to this year’s program and provide exciting and enriching activities – all on-site. Our campers completed scavenger hunts, enjoyed a magic show and lots of outdoor water play, and even got to meet a few therapy dogs! Additionally, they participated in daily STEM, literacy, and art projects, so they were constantly engaged and, most importantly, having fun!

Also this year, for the first time since Camp Lots-of-Fun’s inception, we offered our teen counselors the option of either receiving credited volunteer hours for their time or a stipend. This opened up job opportunities for teens who needed to earn an income over the summer and helped diversify our staff. Thank you to all of the counselors who joined us this summer.

Special thanks to two great additions to the camp staff this summer, Assistant Director Claire Nagel and Head Counselor Katherine Ville. Fran Robertson was once again on hand to supervise the fantastic and generously donated breakfasts and lunches. Thank you, Fran, as always. And of course, we are so very grateful to our amazing Camp Director, Ash Reddy, for everything she does!

Camp Lots-of-Fun was made possible through the support of so many individuals, foundations, and corporations, including The Robert and Joan Dircks Foundation, Sharp Electronics, Visions Federal Credit Union, M&T Bank, and SUEZ. We also want to extend a very special thank you to Ashley Biggs, Carolyn Jacoby, and Blue Foundry Bank for donating school supplies for our campers, Anne Heller for the art supplies, and Jerry and Anne Fleisher for fulfilling our wish list needs for this year’s session.

Thank you all for helping to make this summer special for the kids at Family Promise!
