Things really began to fall apart when Eva’s husband died. The family received Survivor Benefits but Eva quickly learned that that was this not enough to sustain her family in their apartment. To make matters worse, she did not qualify for housing assistance because the benefits put her over the allowable income limits. The family was evicted from their apartment shortly thereafter.

They bounced around, staying with family and friends, but with the uncertainty of the family’s housing situation, Eva could only work part time. Luckily, Eva was directed to Family Promise. With the support and guidance of our case managers, Eva was able to find a full-time job within a week! As she continues in the program, Eva is working on building her credit and saving money.

Eva is another example of the success that families can achieve once they have the stability that the Bridge Program offers and the help that caring, supportive case managers provide.
